our BiEnnial Show
A Chance to Shine on Stage
Every two years, Clay's Dance Academy comes together for our flagship Biennial Show — a celebration of everything our students have worked towards, performed in front of family, friends, and the wider community.
What is the Biennial Show?
Every two years, we bring our students together for one very special event — our full school show! This is a fantastic opportunity for our dancers and performers to showcase the skills they have developed across all of their classes, while experiencing the excitement and magic of performing on a professional stage. Our shows are usually held during the February half term, with a full week dedicated to rehearsals and performances. Students become part of a spectacular production, performing in front of hundreds of family members and friends across five performances: Thursday Matinee • Thursday Evening • Friday Evening • Saturday Matinee • Saturday Evening The week is always filled with excitement, teamwork and unforgettable memories as our students work together to bring the production to life. Our biennial shows are about so much more than performing. They give our students the opportunity to experience what it is really like to be part of a large-scale production, helping them to develop confidence, stage presence, teamwork and performance skills. Students have the opportunity to audition for principal roles and singing parts, as well as showcase the skills they have worked so hard to develop in their regular classes. Whether they are performing a starring role or dancing as part of an ensemble, every student plays an important part in making the show special. In recent years, we have been delighted to perform at Thornden Arts Centre in Chandlers Ford. This venue has provided our students with a fantastic professional theatre experience with over 350 seats in the auditorium.
Show Memories
The excitement doesn't start when the curtain opens! A few weeks before the show, we hold a special professional photography day, where students have the opportunity to dress in their costumes and capture beautiful photographs to remember their experience. The full show is also professionally filmed, with recordings available to purchase for families who would like to keep a lasting memory of their child's performance.
Tale as Old as Time 2026
Our most recent production was Tale as Old as Time — a magical fairytale inspired by the much-loved story of Beauty and the Beast. From rehearsals and costume fittings to stepping onto the stage in front of a packed audience, the whole experience created memories that our students and families will treasure for years to come. We can't wait to see what our next show will bring! Take a look below at some of the photographs from our most recent production...
